Sweet, salty, spicy and irresistibly crispy—candied bacon is the perfect treat to add a little holiday magic to your table. Here’s how to make this festive favorite!
Ingredients:
500g thick-cut bacon (Brats and Chops or equivalent)
50g brown sugar
60ml pure maple syrup
1 tsp smoked paprika
1 tsp freshly ground black pepper
Preheat the oven: Heat the oven to 190°C (375°F). Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil and place a wire rack on top for even cooking and easy cleanup.
Mix the coating: In a large plate or shallow dish, combine the brown sugar, maple syrup, smoked paprika, and black pepper. Mix until evenly blended.
Coat the bacon: Dredge each slice of bacon in the mixture, ensuring both sides are thoroughly coated.
Arrange on the rack: Lay the coated bacon slices in a single layer on the wire rack. Pour any remaining mixture over the bacon for extra caramelization.
Bake to perfection: Bake for 15 minutes. Flip the bacon slices and bake for an additional 10–15 minutes, or until the bacon is golden, crispy, and caramelized to your liking.
Cool and serve: Allow the bacon to cool for 5 minutes to let the sugars set. Serve warm or at room temperature for a delectable treat.
For a hint of extra heat, sprinkle a pinch of cayenne pepper on the coated bacon before baking.
